Leading the way in community growth

On November 9, 2005, developer Kirby Hall and his then two-year-old daughter Avery cut the ribbon for the official opening of phase one of Thunder Creek – the first new subdivision in Parry Sound in over 30 years. 15 years later, phase one is complete with all apartments sold and phase two well underway.

The housing shortage is a common problem in the town of Parry Sound, and Thunder Creek Homes looks to be the solution to this problem. Kirby Hall of Hall Construction envisions Thunder Creek Homes to be a development offering luxury apartment rentals in Parry Sound and geared toward working professionals and young families, with thought given to newly retired couples.

Howard Oldham

Howard Oldham

Vice-president

Howard Oldham has been involved in the construction industry for over thirty years. He started out building homes and luxury cottages with his father’s construction company in Muskoka. Howard then started a Security System Company in Muskoka, which he later sold to his partner in order to attend university, where he studied business. Howard then obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and, upon completion, was hired by a Bay Street law firm, where he worked for almost ten years.

After a few years working as in-house legal counsel for a large international company, Howard purchased a run-down resort where he built a new house and restored the resort’s cottages. Once the resort was up and running, Howard started a new law firm in Parry Sound, which he is still very active in to this day. As a lawyer, Howard practices real estate, corporate, construction, and employment law.

While actively involved in the law firm, Howard created and ran a substantial construction company along with another partner. The company was in operation for many years and was involved in all aspects of building and renovating new and existing homes and cottages in the Muskoka and Parry Sound areas. He later sold this company to his partner.

Over the last twenty years, Howard has bought, renovated and sold many homes and cottages and built and managed many rental properties.

Howard has a unique blend of practical business experience and legal knowledge. He is excited about the Thunder Creek Homes development and all it has to offer.

Tim Elford

Tim Elford, B. Arch.

Architect

Tim began designing homes over 25 years ago when he enrolled in Carleton University’s Architectural Program in 1992. He graduated in 2000 with a five-year Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction Degree and was awarded Valedictorian for his final year’s thesis work.

Needing a break before taking on the working world, Tim packed up and moved out to Whistler, B.C., to become a self-declared ski bum.

While in B.C., Tim was involved in managing and starting a design firm that specialized in luxury timber frame homes. When Whistler was named the home of the 2010 winter Olympics, Tim decided it was time for a change. After a short stint of designing a unique slope-side condo in Golden, B.C., Tim was recruited by Normerica Timber Frames in Aurora, Ontario.

For the last 16 years, Tim has designed and helped build countless custom homes for clients throughout Ontario in multiple construction styles (log, timber frame, ICF, conventional, etc.).

Tim joined Hall Construction in 2018, seeing an opportunity to continue his pursuit of creative, quality home designs with owners who had the same mindset.

“Happy to be part of such a great team, and looking forward to being a small part of creating some great homes for some great people!”
– Tim
